There are a few things to note when
conducting any bandwidth speed test:
- The results of your test are affected by the
amount of competing traffic concurrently running on your network.
- To obtain more accurate results from your speed
test, do not initiate the test until you know there is little or no
traffic from other users or devices on your network. For best
results, connect only a single PC to your router and run the test.
This removes any possible points of congestion on your LAN from the
testing environment.
- Because some bandwidth is required to transport
test data across the network, your results may be approximately 10%
less than your actual subscribed speed.
- If your speed test is considerably less than what
you expected, this could be an indication of unknown or faulty
equipment running on your network.
